Where color becomes a room.
The Color Lab is a color and room-design playground built by Design Medium. Pull a palette out of a photo you love, M.A.S.H. colors together until something clicks, build a room around the result, and take the whole thing with you as a tear sheet or buying guide.
What's inside
- Pull a palette from a photo: upload a room or exterior shot and get its palette, a read on its vibe, improvement suggestions, and AI restyles across dozens of design directions.
- Palette M.A.S.H.: spin real paint, wood, stone, tile, fabric, and metal swatches into new combinations using color-theory strategies.
- Build a Room: assign your palette to surfaces in a room template and see it come together.
- myLAB: your saved palettes, spaces, sessions, and things.
How the AI features work
Some features send the photo or palette you're working on to an AI model to analyze color, identify materials, write suggestions, or generate a restyled image. Those requests run through our server so no keys are exposed in your browser.
AI output is a starting point for your own design decisions, not professional advice. Generated images are illustrations, real paint, materials, and lighting will differ.
Your photos and data
You can use most of The Color Lab without an account. Work in progress is tied to an anonymous identifier stored in your browser, and it becomes attached to an account only if you choose to create one when saving.
